Barneys New York has always been one of my favourite shopping sites, it collects the most unique products from each brand and acts as a middleman between the customers and the brands, there is a fashion term for such shop called “boutique”! I love those terrific boutiques, they are like the most insightful friends who always pick the best deals for you! And since sometimes life is just a rush, I feel like checking Barney’s website instead of going to the shops (thanks to the network technology of 21st century). What are we going to experience on their website? Are you getting more and more excited to explore the fashion world with me? Are you feeling my passion to this nice website which applies the AIDA marketing model perfectly? Let’s go and check!


A=Attention: Once you get on the home page, you will see this “COMMAND ATTENTION” on the top left side of the page, which is obviously an attention to visitors. Below the “COMMAND ATTENTION” line, the three little black dots can actually lead you to the different sorts of products you might be interested in. This part of the website is an attentive design, but what draws more of my attention is the flickering strip on the very top of the web page. Green and blue color comes in turn, it’s quite hard for people not to pay attention to what is said on it. I love this design!

I=Interest: The visual stimulus is Barney’s way of arousing people’s interest. What can be more interesting than seeing the pictures of those potential great buys? Barney’s home pages made it, see those appealing pictures matching the descriptive words below the“COMMAND ATTENTION”? Yes, they are what you interests are.

D=Desire: I’m getting super excited about talking this part! Do you notice the “THE WINDOW” line over the pictures, once you click on it, you will enter an amazing world where tells you all the fashion information you would need! For a shopper with profound shopping experience, it’s never just about the clothes, it’s about the clothing stories and culture, the events and stories posted on the page can definitely arouse your desire of shopping to an extreme extent. Do you care about the fashion trends happening in Paris? Do you want to know about the life experience of your favourite designer? Do you want to understand the origin of your beloved brand? Trust me, my vein was about to explode when I saw the page led by the “THE WINDOW”. Every sophisticated shopper would have a strong desire when seeing this page! And within the page, there’s a classification between “WOMEN’S” and “MAN’S” for leading women and men to the stories which might interest them the most, and the “SHOP” button on the very left of the line takes you back to the home shopping page, let’s have shopping start again!
A*=Action: I personally think Barney’s website did a good job in putting visitors into action. The “SEARCH” blank located on the right side of black strip where viewers do not need to scroll down to ACT, I actually filled the search blank the first time I was trying to do some shopping on the website. The “NEWSLETTER SIGN UP” part right below the pictures enables a long-time relationship between the customers and this amazing boutique store, the action opportunities with the “Follow Us on Twitter, Join Us on Facebook and Youtube” are also provided on the left side of“NEWSLETTER SIGN UP” part. (You can notice all those action opportunities on the first three pictures posted here.)
